Here at work I've been selling black walnut kernels. Friend of mine, he's 80 years old, he and his wife cracked and picked out over 100 pounds of nuts last season. Not sure what they're up to this fall? Nice, big, clean kernels too. Not a bunch of crumbs in the bags either. Wholesale, I pay him $10 a pound, you can see the price on the bags. Figure 100 X $10, gives them a little spending money.
If any of you have never cracked and picked out walnut kernels, it's a lotta work! Hopefully I can find someone that will crack out hickory nuts, that is a pain, and they are expensive! But, darn they are good in cakes and such!
