As I am getting back into trapping again, I took my Trapper Ed course today. After the amount of hours I have spent on this site -- I already knew most everything that was taught today - except: The instructor carries empty sand bags back in for beaver sets. They weigh almost nothing, and can be stuffed in your back pocket. He uses on-site rocks or mud to fill them, wires them shut, attaches the drowner cable and tosses them in the water. When pulling sets, he just empties the "stuff" out and re-uses the bag again. They cost about 75 cents each and last forever.

I'm really surprised we haven't mentioned that on these boards. I've used bags for 25 years.

However, the bags don't last forever. They will get snagged and torn. MB 750's are particularly hard on bags because they snag. If a bag gets a hole in it, don't trust it. Get a new one.

Thank you, Hal. I have 25 bags on a UPS truck headed to my house right now.

Go on line to: www.911sandbags.com It is called Jacobs Trading Co. I got 25 bags for $18.49 + $ .74 tax. No shipping charge.

I have them already. They are the cats meow. Woven polypropolene. One bag weighs about an oz. or less. I could carry all 25 in my shirt and not even know they were there.

If you shop at bulk food stores, they get beans in burlap sacks about the same size as the 14x26 sand bags. You can usually receive these for free.
