Just watched Hal's video on Beaver 2000. Lots of good information. If I understood right Hal said he put about 6' or so of chain on his 330's, but he didn't say what size, type of chain.I had planned to use some cable but in this video the chain looked pretty small and didn't look like it would add much bulk or weight. What size and type chain are most of you using? Cable guys feel free to express your opinion. I just want good feed back based on experience. By the way these traps will be used for beaver trapping in open water

6-8 foot extensions - 3/32 7x7 cable does it for me.

Universal Swivel as close to spring as possible, cable tied to universal swivel.

I wrap the cable around the trap, and add about 18 inches of wire at the end for final tie off.

snaps may work in some areas, but often I tie to stumps, stick ends, etc, where snaps may not work.

Any small size chain will do. These are not restraining traps. Twin loop chain is the least expensive.

Not sure if i've watched that video? lately, i've been removing all my body-grip chains, just seems like a waste, not to mention all the darn things tangled. i don't use many body-grips, but it's easy to just pull out a piece of wire, after 2, 3 or 5 catches i'm done in the area anyway. except for high-water, i've never lost one.
a few years ago, i bought some 120's that had about 4 feet of 5/64th(i guess)cable on them with about 18" of tie wire on the end, honestly, by the time i un-roll all that junk, i could have set the trap and moved on. just my 2 cents.

8' of 1/8 cable. Let that dude wash or flop on down out of that channel. Don't forget to use the right kind of stablizer or it defeats the purpose of long cable.

I use some cables from my coon traps, by the time I'm using 330's there are some free from coon trapping. These are looped on the ends, I run an end through the swivel at the end of chain and run the other end through this and just let it tighten down as much as possible. When done with them, take them off and they get double use, although more so probably just because have never taken the time ( or had it ) to make permanent ones. Dale

I use the cheap twin loop dog chains, these are easy to dip after they rust. Good for fast water and beaver eaters. Wire does not take the abuse from a pack of yotes, or the mountain lions that aren't here in AR...I by a bunch of them and stash them along my trapping areas. I do remove the factory chains for the simple fact that they are always getting tangled. Simple zip lock bags will keep the dog chains seperated in your trapping bucket. I have used alot of wire, but it leaves an uneasy feeling...LOL
