Has anyone used an air skinner that operates off a compressor? I am a taxidermist and am thinking of purchasing one. It has different length needles that are inserted under the hide and blows air to seperate the skin from the carcass. I am thinking this might be a good idea for beaver.

I know this site is not to be used for advertisements so I feel reluctant to give the name of the supplier. Please give me any thoughts or experiences anyone has had with this tool. You can e-mail me directly if you wish,

I will be away a few days hunting deer and trapping mink. I am excited about this air skinner and I can't wait to try one out. Happy Trapping to you all.chuckieo

I tried using an air compressor on otter. I did maybe ± a half dozen. It works. However,
it leaves so much flesh on the pelt, that the time I saved in skinning was negated by the additional time required for fleshing. I went back to knife work. It is rather strange to see an otter "pressurized". He looks like a shortened football. I have heard of using this method on other animals. I tried it once on a beaver with much the same results I had with the otter.
I cannot imagine it being necessary on any of the other animals I target.
Adios,

And that has been the report offered by several other experienced fur handlers.

I believe this method proves impressive only to amateurs.
