There has to be some kind of fine line between items that were put on your property intentionally, and property that was lost, or abandoned.
Then it just becomes a matter of he said vs. he said.

If citizens took the law into their own hands, then what would be the point of having law enforcement????????????????

Your first link refers to FELONIES
With that link I was referring to Hal's related story:

Quote:
Let me relate this little story. A friend of my caught two people on this property, stealing from him. He held them at gunpoint, and tied them up until the sheriff came. He very nearly wound up arrested himself for "unlawful detainment" which I think is akin to kidnapping.
I believe Hal's friend interruped a FELONY.

Come on Tall Pine Troy
Ric is not condoning what the trespasser does. Never once did he say he approved of what they did. All Ric, or anyone, is saying is DO NOT TAKE THE LAW INTO YOUR OWN HANDS . I, and everyone here, agree that thieves are worthless, but you the citizen are not, except in cases of felonies, a law enforcer.

I don't beileve that incident I related was a felony. That's why the fellow almost got in trouble.

I can't think of too many places where "trap thievin'" would be a felony either.

Hal the pattern is everyone that is upset at the land owner for taking their traps is TRESSPASSING. Tresspassing and "encroaching" on someone's land is wrong . I never said to take the law into your own hands. I said that burning a guys cabin down is wrong. I also said that a trapper should consider himself lucky if all he looses are his traps. Think about it. If you get caught tresspassing and you caught some animals, what can the game warden do to you. Alot more than take your traps. I wonder how many of you tresspass. Based on some individuals responses it looks like alot frown
