At this time very little that is not privately owned. The one exception is a wetland and I have sole permission on it. A lot of weather you use public land would have to do with what is available. In Ohio I have never utilized it very much. There is much more private land than public. Where I trapped PA and MI there were large tracts of public land and I used it much more often.

In Northern New York- in the Adirondack Mountains- I have not had good luck getting permission from many landowners to trap. A few - but not many. The state does own thousands of acres that are prime. The bad thing is that trapping season opens the same day as deer season.

I mainly trap on private land, but I do set a few every year on state lands as I have 2 separate state land parcels approx 3500 acres each within 15 mins of my house. I don't find theft a problem on state land as most people are lazy and just stick to the trails in the woods.

My canine lines are on private land.I have had these same farms for over twenty years,Here where I live it is extreamly hard to get on other farms because there is a lot of trappers in the area. I hate asking permission. but I won't trap without it. My water line is mixed 50/50.I was invited to trap on some farms a long time ago and I just setteled in.
