I have been going through the land trapping archives , searching about antifreeze in dirt sets. I was wondering about propylene glycol. My question is RV antifreeze the same as what I can get the trapping supply places

Forgot mention RV antifreeze is propylene glycol. Label did not show any other additives other than dye for color

I have never done any land trapping , but i am planning to this fall. I just ordered a doz mb 550 4coiled rubber jaws. I opened the RV antifreeze smells like alcohol to me. Thats what is supposed to smell like isn't it.

No. Are you sure it is labeled propylene glycol? A lot of RV antifreeze is plain old alcohol, and that won't work for trapping. -- Hal

It is labeled propylene glycol. I dug up some dirt and applied some and put it in chest freezer. Dirt did not freeze but a strong odor. Wont be using this

I've got a jug of RV/Marine Antifreeze made by the Zecol Co. Ingredients; Water, Propylene Glycol. Corrosion Inhibitor Package, Dye. It's pink in color so that you know it is in the system. When I stick my nose right down into the top of the jug, I can pick up a very, very slight smell comparable to the isopropyl alcohol I use for first aid antiseptic. Hardly worth mentioning. I know my bobcat didn't mind.

Thanks for info FLSH ETR . The stuff i have is blue and has a alcohol smell. I found the MSDS on this stuff, and has several additives in including 2 different alcohols in it. I can get the brand you used locally. I will give it a try. Cats will my target animal for my first time trapping on dry land. Again thanks for info
