How do you store your clean traps?

Years ago, just about everybody had some sort of out building where they could hang their traps to store them. That's still how I store mine. They hang in a shed. For what it's worth, I keep my four-wheeler in that shed too. I'm not concerned with the odors that might be coming off my four-wheeler, especially in light of the fact that that I already have traps hanging in there that have been dunked in lantern fuel (naphtha).

But I know a lot of people don't have a separate outbuilding nowadays so...

How do you store your clean traps during the off season?

Mine are kept in an open air cattle shed in wooden shipping crates. There are cattle right next to our storage area.

I store mine in wooden crates and boxes. They are in an old barn that I use primarily for storage. The variety of odors in there ranges from diesel fuel to fertilizer.

Hanging in groups of 6 according to size, in a corner of my basement. Some that need tuning or fixing are organized in a huge tangled pile in the corner.

In a couple of plastic foot lockers, wherever I can stash them.

the rcack that I hang them on after waxing is where I store the ones that never saw any action.I will make an effort to get them out of the hot sun this summer. The others are in terriable disaray in plastic totes in the barn with the horses. In a month or so before the PA, convention I will go through them and see what I have to buy at the convention for repairs. then peck at them till September. then wax and dye. then back out on the rack again.

I'll add a couple of things here.

Before I had a shed to dedicate to my trapping equipment, I kept my traps in a corn crib. (I suspect, however, that corn cribs are now way in the past.) I also stored traps under the eves of my fur shed.

I have out buildings. there is no gas/oil in the same building as my outdoor stuff. My regular traps are stored in one of these sheds.

My wolf stuff hangs from a tree once it is dipped.

I store mine in plastic storage containers, with horse and cow manure and juniper brows in them. these are the most common oders in the areas where I trap. Mold has never been an issue, but I am in a dry climate.
