Will Speed Dip affect the the triggers of coni traps. I just retired from the Air Force and can't wait to start trapping again. Had to buy new equipment and just getting things together. Traps are rusted and ready to go. Never used Speed Dip but am going to try. Going to run a water line and focus on coon & mink. Saving the coyotes for late season calling and winter fun. If that doesn't work out I will see what I can do to pick them up next season. Just don't think I have the skills to get them this year and don't want to wise them up just yet.

It would be best if you cleaned the dip off the dog and the place on the jaw where it rests.

Remember, if you're dipping traps, there's no need to rust new traps. Just clean the factory oil and grease and dip.

KD, no offense meant here but ... Is that others opinion as well? I should NOT lightly rust my new, or unused, traps prior to using a "speed dip" product?

Agree on the rusting. I just could decide exactly what I was going to do so I rusted them

It isn't necessary to rust your traps if you are going to dip them.

I went ahaed and dipped a few. Some not rusted and some rusted. I removed all the oil from the non-rusted. The Speed Dip worked as advertised. The only thing I noticed is that the non-rusted traps have a smooth shine to them. The rusted trapps are purfict. Flat black and no shine. Don't get me wrong. the shine isnt really concern. I just think they will stand out a little more. Who knows might fade in a week or two.

Wax them and the shine should go away.

It is not necessary to wax over dip. And -- DO NOT wax bodygrips!

Exposed to the elements, the shine will go away in a few days. This never seemed to be a problem to me.
