Does the speed dip coating hold up for water use on connibears?I've never used it and have always used logwood dye on my 110's and 220's but it always seems to wear off and the traps rust while under water.I picked up a can of speed dip at the trappers convention and was going to try it on 2 dozen new 110's that i currently have hanging outdoors to get a coat of rust-guess i can skip the rust up and just dip them according to the above posts?

And, I suggest you do it pretty quickly. Sometimes it takes dip a while to dry. Take advantage of the last few remaining warm days.

Thanks for the advice,i'll be dipping them tomorrow. One final question-after their dipped should i leave them hanging outdoors covered or uncovered from the weather? Will a rain or heavy dew affect them drying? Thanks for all your help!

Keep them Inside where It's hot and placing a fan so you can move air over them, It might just help them dry quicker. Good luck.

All I've ever used is Speed dip but then again this will only be my 3rd year trapping. I haven't had a problem with dip being on dog and jaws so don't think there is a real need to scrap it off. As far as a light coat of rust on new traps the only difference between rusted and not is the shine on the trap. New traps will be shiny while those that are rusted will be duller.

It's a good idea to clean off the dog. I use a chain saw file for that. Personally, I have a clean spot on the jaw as well.
