Gadwall it is not legal to use bucket sets in the two states I trap. That might be the reason you are not getting any answers.

"Bucket sets" are nothing more than a cubby you can carry around. You can use either a foothold or body grip trap.I use a very basic cubby type set at times. Nothing more than a attractor placed in a "enclosure" that causes the animal to pass over the trap. Yes they do work

Body grips on dry land not bucket sets as I posted in the other post is not allowed here. You could use a bucket with a foothold as a cubby set.

I have made a call to Raleigh today and to our local wildlife officer. The lady I talked to in Raleigh could not give me a answer and the wildlife officer has not called me back yet. I will post the out come as soon as they let me know something back.

I called the local warden again today. Still waiting for him to call me back. The regulation book does not have much of anything in it as far as trapping regulations. I contacted the county attorney here a few years ago about the fox regulations and he was very helpful but it took him a few days to figure things out. He says we are not required to tag fox in the county I live in but the lady I talked to in Raleigh the other day said we are required to tag them. Will post back when I hear from game warden.

Local warden called me back today and said a body grip with a jaw spread of 7 1/2 inches or less was allowed on dry land. Another warden that has retired now told us they was not allowed. Sorry for the confusion. Game warden also told me we did have to tag fox in our county.

Castiron, it is all at www.ncwildlife.org but NOT a user friendly site...find the tab "Legal type traps".

That's the beauty of the FREE trappers ed courses offered in NC...they're taught by CO's that know the law and we get their business card to keep and show our local CO, in case they DON'T know the law, as happens often in NC with all the crazy fox laws and such.
