i have never made a cubby set before but was wondering if anyone had any tips on making one. i have beaver meat and had watched guys trap lynx in a big lean to cubby sets and wondered what would work in missouri on bobcats.

Don't over think it. Often I'll just find or kick a hole into a brush pile placing the attractor so the animal will pass over the trap to get to it. A cubby in it's simplest form

Yes. Do not overthink this. You do not need to build a full (body size) cubby. Just make an above ground hidey-hole where you can put some lure/bait/attractors and the like. Put a trap in front of it. something the size of a shoe box will do.

If you have logging roads with thick grass or briars on the sides just kick out a cubby back in it and set trap in front. I do this regularly. A handful of feathers back in there is great if your state laws permit.

That looks like a cat set. However, cat trapping is much more a function of location than it is of sets. With some exception, I try to make cat sets "on sign". -- Hal

Question: That set-- a couple of posts above---with the 2 flat rocks, stacked up, with the little hole underneath them----if one were to remove that pile of sticks at the bottom of the picture---would that be a good fox/coyote set? I have made tons of sets that look just like that---some connect, some don't. Is it too BOLD for coyotes? Tell me your thoughts. Maybe blend some cut up leaves/grass over the huge dirt pattern?

Ron
