RO, do the potatoes last longer under the water? I have thought about using them but haven't yet. They have a good white color at first and I bet that the lemon juice would help keep them white and would add some odor to them.

Potatoes do last a bit longer, but the main reason I use them is they are cheaper than apples and have great eye appeal. Smell is of no importance under water for mammals.
