I hunt the same farms that I trap with beagles. In the off season I set #1 long springs in the same format that they will see in the field. and by that time they give my traps a wide birth.I also took my lab on the line with me (after the same debriefing) And she was a definate asset. smile

Some really good wolfers I know use a dog and set up on places located by them,mostly urine post sets.Works well for coyotes.
I caught my dog in a wolverineset once.Worked the set sideways and got hit just back of the ears.By the time I found him eyes were glazed over.Held his mouth shut and blew down his nose a few times,lucky dog that but never was much intested in trapping after that.
I take a dog all the time trapping gives them a good life and somebody to talk too at camp
