Death Ray is a dispatch pole, not a catch pole. Made by Lee Steinmeyer. I haven't had it so much as leave a mark on anything I have used it on. It uses an 1/8" cable, so it is less harmful to the fur than a snare. No blood on anything, no critters freezing to the back of the truck before I can get home. I still carry a pistol, but rarely use it now. If I have one that is toe caught and going nuts, it still gets the .22, but other than that, it's the ray. I've tried with the catch pole, and they aren't fast enough for me. Nose tap my yotes, slip on the Death Ray, take them out of the trap and toss them to the side. They never move another muscle, and it's faster than shooting them for me.

Well the coyote did die, but she wasn't cooperating with the catch pole method... The .22 put her down in the end.

Yep.

Perhaps disturbingly effective would have been a better choice of words...

The first time I employed that method I watched for a few minutes afterwards to make sure the cat wasn't going to resurrect on me.
