First bear picture of 2019.

Still have 3 bucks on camera 4.

Finally had a chance to check cameras 1, 2 and 3. It had been over 6 weeks between checks for camera 2 and 3. I have at least 3 buck deer that still have their antlers, as of 3/29/19.




I'll tell you this about camera #2, we had a screw up. The camera wiggled loose and changed angles, more toward the ground. I guess the strap stretched? #2 is my "lured rock" camera. My cameras have a readout that tells you how many pictures that it's taken. When I changed SD cards, I thought it said 1,500 something. Kind of hard to see it looking into a bright sky. Anyway, got it home and plugged in the SD card, it had taken 1,560 plus pictures. We've had some really windy days, had one gust here in town that was over 50 MPH. It was clicking away, all on one set of batteries, so I really can't complain. It's taken some pretty neat pictures!

Doing a little experiment. I'm sure some of you folks with gardens have heard of all kinds of "tricks" to keep deer out of the patch. I've heard that egg shells would repel deer.

A friend of mine that does a lot of cooking has been saving eggs shells for me. All together I dumped out almost a 5-gallon bucket full of egg shells around this saltlick. Most of them are on the high side of the stump, behind it, to the camera. I dumped out the egg shells on 4/06/19, 2 days ago. I checked it today, there are deer tracks all over the place.

Seems like the deer are really craving salt now.
