When bedding a trap , do you bury the chain and drag under the trap ? Or do you leave it above ground and try to camouflage it into the surroundings ? I plan on dyeing the chain and the drag but I don't know if they should be waxed. Wouldn't canines smell the chain and drags if they weren't waxed and sitting above ground ? I never used drags before and I need all the suggestions I can get ? Thank you for any help that you can provide.

I don't bury drags. I try to blend the chain in for about 12 to 18 inches from the set, for coyotes that is. Yes, they will smell the chain and drag setting above ground if they are not waxed. They will smell like steel. If they are waxed, they will smell like wax. No net gain.
