I put all my traps away clean, waxed and ready within a week of pulling them up.

I have never seen mold on my traps. IMO you would need your traps either in a damp environment or they have bits of meat/blood soil on them to grow any amount of mold.

Of course, it is possible that some molds smell different than others. So the mold encountered by an animal may well be different than that which grows on your trap, if it grew enough to make a smell!
