Well, the wall is fixed, the man did a very nice job.

The police were here the other night, the town officer has all of her information. He took pictures inside and out. One town officer and 2 guys from the Sheriff's dept.

The town officer said he was on duty all night and told me that he'd patrol the area heavy, I thanked him for that.

The man at the cinder block place said the blocks would be here before 8:30. After they stuck me with that $125 delivery fee, they cost me $5 each.

But the masonry man and his helper were here at 8am, and they hit it hard. I was watching him, off and on. I told him when he was on the 3rd layer of blocks, he made it look easy. It's right on the money.

He was here, finished and paid up at high noon, yesterday.

You know the block company needs to make money to stay in business. But $125 plus another $5 each, that's called the 'BOHICA' effect. Stands for 'Bend Over Here It Comes Again'! And no KY jelly involved either. Just sand and gravel!!

Frank.

I have said it before and i'll say it again, you can not give everybody a dollar or two raise. I will be surprised if the price of lumber and building materials come back down. The amish are doing a great business with rough cut lumber, but banks don't like to loan money for building houses if the wood is not stamped.I went to lowe's and home depot yesterday for 4inch pvc pipe and they only had 1 piece between them.Any way i"m glad they got your wall back up.

One thing that I should have mentioned before, the car the lady was driving is and older car. Maybe worth $2,000 ? Doesn't make any difference, but we're keeping track of expenses.

Still some work to do on the door frame, paint, plus hauling off the busted blocks and all.

If the new blocks are good and dry, I think Barb and Kim are planning on painting tomorrow.

Today makes a week since the crash. I'll tell you I was very lucky to pull the block man away from one job, have him come in and get my wall fixed so quickly. He did a good job and I appreciate that too.

I know the woman that he'd been working for, hope she's not mad at me. But the block man left here Monday, and back to the other job.

Talking about the blocks, I ordered 90 blocks, one pallet. On the invoice, the blocks were $3.25 or so? The blocks, mortar and sand, plus the $125 fee were a little over $500. That's total.

That's the thing about it, 2 weeks ago I didn't know I'd be building a block wall. One thing for sure, you can't afford to have 2 men standing around waiting on materials. But things worked out ok.
