Two more bobcats caught and released this fall. 'Bout time for a season.

Not sure? Does the Ohio DOW have a system in place where they can get a somewhat accurate record of how many bobcats are caught and/or killed each year? Are you required to report bobcat catches?

Here in WV we have a season limit of 3 bobcats. And a limit of 1 fisher and one otter per season. And they do need to be reported to our DNR.

Years ago, we had a limit on fox, coon and beaver. That's all been eliminated now.

If the wildlife folks don't know what's going in the field, sounds like they're just guessing at the bobcat population. Maybe there are politics involved too? Not sure?

It's all voluntary reporting. We have a lot of bobcats. There is some bullcrap about a previous study on them that wasn't "good enough". It had to be redone and is taking five years in the process. Bobcats are "cute" is the big problem.

Emotions will trump science any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
