Not sure? Does the Ohio DOW have a system in place where they can get a somewhat accurate record of how many bobcats are caught and/or killed each year? Are you required to report bobcat catches?
Here in WV we have a season limit of 3 bobcats. And a limit of 1 fisher and one otter per season. And they do need to be reported to our DNR.
Years ago, we had a limit on fox, coon and beaver. That's all been eliminated now.
If the wildlife folks don't know what's going in the field, sounds like they're just guessing at the bobcat population. Maybe there are politics involved too? Not sure?
