i own land in northern wi. and have several groups of yotes. i have two deer food plots with atv trails entering and exiting both ends. i only get up there on weekends in the fall and winter and looking at trail cams they seem to like to use the trails going into the plots so is it ok to use only dirt holes at every trail entrance and exit? also is it ok to snap the trap on sunday when i leave so its there when i arrive friday? heres my basic set so feel free to chime in, i claw a step down in front of the small hole and spread wax dirt as a bed, then i set my kendalls xtreme jr with wolf fang anchor under it. i put wax paper on pand and spread wax dirt over it after bedding trap. i finish by sifting dirt over that. i put cavens hiawatha bait under sheeps wool in hole and on a rock above the hole i squirt coyote urine and put a gland lure and gusto or hellfire on it as a call. does this set sound ok?

It sounds like your set construction is okay as well as your choice for location. However, if you fire off your traps and let them lay, the coyotes will still investigate the set, and eventually they will lose interest. Instead of doing that, find a big rock or two and cover the entire set with the trap still in place. In other words hide the set. When you come back for the weekend, take the rocks off the set.
