Let's discuss the matter of coyote seasons.

In Ohio, the coyote 100% unwelcome. There is no closed season. Also, even though it is technically classified as a furbearer, hunters are not required to have a Fur Taker permit to hunt them. Fox, and coon hunters are required to purchase a Fur Taker permit. (This regulation is primarily so deer and turkey hunters can shoot a coyote. In fact, coyotes and wild boar are the only other "upland" animals you can kill legally during our deer gun season.)

What are the coyote regulations like in other parts of the country?

Hal

Alabama- Coyote and beaver are considered a nuisance animal and can be taken any time of year without a fur takers license. The hides however can only be sold under a fur takers license and reported within 30 days after close of season.

Wisconsin has their coyote trapping season from about Oct's end to mid Feb. and a license is required. They can be hunted with a small game license 24/7/365. The exception to that is the northern third of the state is closed to yote hunting during any kind of deer hunt with a firearm. This area is a known hang-out for the gray wolf, and the DNR set those regs. so no one can claim they thought they were shooting at a coyote when they were aiming at the wolf. Frank.

One quick clarification. The report is to extend the coyote trapping season in two counties in N.C. They can be hunted year-round but only trapped during applicable trapping seasons. Don't ask me to explain the N.C. Fox/Coyote laws, it'd be a waste of bandwidth. Just remember anybody running a landline in N.C., read the regs not only for the state but for the county(s) that you're trapping in carefully.

In Nebraska its year round but like always they're not worth anything untill fall and winter. And skunks are year round too since no one likes them.
