OK, I've got the book and the video (Beaver 2000). I've got one question, where do you get the bags to put the dirt in to attach to your drowing wire? All the feed sacks, etc. around here are paper.

Try a seed supplier, or better yet a farmer, as he'll most likely have used bags that he'll let you have. Grass seed, grain seed and corn comes in the braided nylon type bags.

I also have trouble getting bags. I collect old pairs of pants (Jeans are preffered). I cut the pant legs off and sew the bottom closed. At the top I cut holes around the seams. My drowning wire goes in the pant leg along with an electical ty-wrap and a piece of wire. When it comes time to use I fill with rocks, run my wire through the holes cut around the seams (the wire will already have a loop in the end) ty-wrap and wire for extra security and am ready to go.
These fold flat and several take up very little room.

Here is a link to a site that deals in sand bags. I use them for live fox, but they ought to work for drowning weights when filled.

http://www.esandbags.com/

There ought to be thousands of these bags along the Gulf Coast going to waste.

Adios,

Thanks for that link. At that price I will probably stop cutting and sewing jean legs.

Try a military surplus store for sand bags. That is what I have been using. You can get about 30lbs of rock or dirt in each one.

Thanks, I'll try the sand bags. For some reason, all the feed/seed sacks around here are paper.
