Nobody said anything about AA batteries. Those are D cells. But AA would work.

As long as you match the voltage to the light bulb it doesn't matter. If you can come up with a 9 volt bulb, you could carry one of those little rectangular 9 volt batteries.

The 3 volt bulbs are the most common. Almost everybody has a couple old two cell flashlights laying around with the switch shot and the bulb still good. You might need to go to the store for the alligator clips though.

I was just kidding. I think a pack full of d bat. would be heavy to carry around. And they would not last long in swamp water.

You said the wire would keep the trap from firing, but in your picturethe dog on the trap is unlatched and the trap isn't fired. So just what gives here?

Just checking her observation skills.I flipped the dog out of the way to get a better picture...and used a very fast shutter speed.

Really if you look close there is a "safety gripper" just visiable on the bottom jaw
