It is dangerous to wax larger body-grippers, as they get so slick that the trigger dog may turn loose and cause the trap to do bodily damage.
Some people do wax, and then clean up the the dog, and the area of the jaw where they set the dog.
If you are new to body-grippers, I would suggest you not wax, until you have developed a real feel for them.
Body-grippers may also be painted using any of several different methods. Once painted, do not dye or wax as the heat may cause the paint to "melt" and cause an odor.
