What else besides packbaskets are good for carrying traps and equipment on the trapline?

I like my "turkey hunting" vest. It has multiple pockets and a large "game bag" type pocket on the back as well as a zippered compartment like a backpack. As long as the load isn't too big it works fine.

Water Line pack basket.

Land line-5 gal bucket with bucket organizer pockets for lures, pliers, wire, extra swivels, rivets, ect.

I did use a large tool bag with padded shoulder strap from Lowes this year and will say I liked it. Pockets inside for tools and pockets outside for lures, ect. Very handy and get one that is made heavy with a reinforced bottom.
Good luck don

I went to Home depot and bought a couple of 5 gallon buckets with lids and a couple of nail pouch type aprons. I use differant buckets for differant critters. One for k-9's and one for water sets (coons, mink, rats, and beaver). I keep my scents and smaller tools in the pouches. The buckets were around $3.00 ea. lids were another dollar or two, and the aprons were a couple dollars ea. They are also good for trap storage as well because the lids have a rubber seal to keep out foreign odors. I also use a couple for wax and dye that has only been used once or twice.

I use a type of rubber military back pack, that I got at Fleet Farm for $7. It is very durable and can hold a lot of equipment. If it breaks, it is cheap enough that it doesn't matter.

I've been using a canvas tool bag with a shoulder strap for the last couple of years and like it. It's especially good if you're just checking traps and only need to carry tools, lures, and a few extra traps. Keep it on your back until you need it, then slide it around front. Because people know what it is, it's less conspicuous than a packbasket or a bucket too. (Nothing says "trapper" like camo.) The only downside it they have a tendency to slide around when you are bent over making a set or crawling under something.
